Dana A Williams, Howard University

Dana A Williams is Associate Professor of African American Literature and Associate Chair in the Department of English at Howard University. She is the author of "In the Light of Likeness--Transformed": The Literary Art of Leon Forrest and the editor of Conversations with Leon Forrest. She is also the co-editor, with Sandra G. Shannon, of August Wilson and Black Aesthetics and editor of African American Humor, Irony and Satire: Ishmael Reed, Satirically Speaking and Contemporary African American Fiction: Critical New Essays (forthcoming Ohio State UP), which includes the full-length article "The Coming-of-Age of the Contemporary African American Novel: Olympia Vernon's Eden, Logic, and A Killing in This Town." A 2008-09 John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute fellow at Duke University, Williams is currently completing a book-length study on Toni Morrison's editorship at Random House Publising Company (tentatively titled The House that Toni Built at Random: Contemporary African American Fiction in the Shadows of the Black Arts Movement). Williams has written a review of Vernon’s latest novel, A Killing in This Town.
